Himachal Pradesh

Himachal Pradesh splits neatly at the treeline. Below it, the Baddi–Barotiwala–Nalagarh belt is one of Asia's largest pharmaceutical manufacturing zones, joined by Una's light-engineering cluster and Sirmaur's packaging industry (both district ODOP designations). Above it, the high valleys produce the crafts and crops that carry the state's name abroad.

The pharma valley

Decades of industrial incentives filled the Baddi corridor with formulation plants, contract manufacturers and packaging suppliers serving regulated markets. For buyers of generics, supplements and personal care, it offers plains-India costs with audited, export-experienced factories — the state's volume story.

Wool country

Kullu's ODOP product is its shawl — the bold-bordered Kullu Shawl, woven in valley cooperatives — while the GI-listed Lahauli knitted socks and gloves from Lahaul's high villages and the leather Chamba Chappal complete a Himalayan wardrobe with documented origin. These are cooperative crafts: small lots, strong stories, ideal for winter-accessory capsule ranges.

Orchard and field

Kangra's ODOP tea — a delicate orthodox leaf from India's smallest tea region — commands specialty prices; Solan grows mushrooms at commercial scale (its ODOP line); and the GI file adds wild-apricot Chulli oil, dark Kala Zeera cumin and basmati from the Punjab-adjacent valleys. Himachal's apples anchor domestic supply and a growing processed-fruit trade.

Logistics

The industrial belt sits an easy truck run from Chandigarh and Delhi-NCR's ports of exit — effectively plains logistics. Hill products consolidate through Kullu, Dharamshala and Solan to the same corridors.
