Jharkhand

Jharkhand is India's mineral heartland learning to export finished goods. The state mines much of the country's coal, iron and mica, and hosts Jamshedpur — the Tata company town whose steel and engineering ecosystem seeds a growing components trade. Silk from the Singhbhum forests

Jharkhand is among India's largest tussar producers. Saraikela-Kharsawan's ODOP designation — Kharsawan silk — marks a reeling and weaving belt whose wild silk feeds both local looms and Bhagalpur's better-known trade next door. Buyers wanting tussar at fibre, yarn or fabric stage can work closer to the cocoon here.

Painted walls, woven jute, forest produce

The GI-protected Sohrai-Khovar painting of Hazaribagh — earth-pigment murals traditionally renewed each harvest — now translates onto paper, textiles and product collaborations, giving folk-art buyers an alternative to better-known schools. Sahibganj grows jute for the sacking and eco-packaging trade; Simdega's ODOP category — minor forest produce — covers lac, tamarind, mahua and medicinal botanicals collected by tribal cooperatives; Chaibasa adds custard apple.

Garments, quietly

Ranchi's ODOP designation is ready-made garments — textile parks around the capital are drawing stitching units serving domestic brands, with export ambitions following. It is an early-stage cluster: competitive labour, developing compliance depth.
