Handmade-paper units convert cotton rag into stationery and packaging for premium brands; incense and aromatics workshops blend for European wellness labels.

Garments and leather, quietly competent

The union territory hosts a compact export-garment industry — knitwear and womenswear units drawing on the Tamil Nadu textile ecosystem that surrounds it — plus footwear and leather-goods workshops. Being small keeps runs flexible: units here accept the 500–2,000-piece orders the big Tirupur factories decline.

Karaikal's industrial pocket

The territory's southern enclave, Karaikal, carries an ODOP designation for chemicals and allied products, served by its own deep-water port — the industrial counterweight to Puducherry's craft economy.
