Jaipur: the pink-city portfolio

Jaipur's ODOP designation — gems, jewellery and blue pottery — understates the range. The city is a world centre for coloured-gemstone cutting and silver jewellery, a hub for block-printed apparel and quilts (with the printing villages of Sanganer and Bagru on its doorstep, the latter profiled as its own hub for natural-dye work), and a sourcing base for hand-knotted rugs, brass, bone inlay and blue pottery. Few cities anywhere let one buying trip cover jewellery, textiles and decor at this depth.

Jodhpur, Bhilwara, Udaipur: the volume belt

Jodhpur is India's handicraft-furniture capital — its ODOP product — shipping sheesham and mango-wood tables, carved doors and industrial-vintage pieces by the container. Bhilwara is a fabric town (RSWM and its peers spin and weave suiting at scale), while Udaipur and Tonk quarry marble, granite and slate for surfaces and garden stone.
